Located in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island the HMCS Quadra Cadet Training Centre is temporary summer home to more than 800 adult staff and cadets.

Every year, cadets from across the country have the unique opportunity to attend training centres to learn valuable transferable life skills including leadership, seamanship, instructional technique, team building and citizenship.

Cadet Keanu Clements, 12, from 202 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Chilcotin in Williams Lake just finished the two-week General Training Course at the HMCS Quadra centre located on Goose Spit near Comox.

Among the many training activities there was time for fun such as playing ultimate Frisbee with his mates.

Keanu says he had a ton of fun, building teamwork, developing friendships and learning new skills.

This is his first summer at the training centre, and he is debating on either taking the Basic Seamanship or the Basic Music Course next year.
