There are just eight spots left for the  Bowl for Kids Sake tournament this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 1-3. The spaces are for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, says event organizer Susan Erlandson.

She says 62 teams have registered for the tournament that raises funds to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Williams Lake.

Teams raise $300 to participate and there are often various corporations and businesses that sponsor teams, Erlandson says.

She notes teams are comprised of four to six players. Recognizing that the tournament starts on April Fools Day, the costume theme is Jesters and Jokers in the Court of the King.

“There are lots of prizes,” Erlandson says. “We have prizes for best themed costume, best individual costume and most enthusiastic team.”

The main prize is a two-night stay at the Dean on Nimpo Retreat Wilderness Inn with flight provided by Tweedsmuir Air Services. Second prize is a GoPro camera, third prize is a wine cooler and there are lots of other prizes including platters and pitchers from Boston Pizza.

Bowling is free and all of the bowlers are treated to free pizza courtesy of Panago.

“The Williams Lake and District Credit Union is our main sponsor,” Erlandson says. “We also have time frame sponsors which include the Day Break Rotary, Dr. Allan Dickens, The United Way and Punky Lake Wilderness Camp society.
