Bookworms pick their favourites

The Cariboo Regional District, Williams Lake Library Branch celebrated its windup of the Red Cedar Book Nominee program.

The Cariboo Regional District, Williams Lake Library Branch celebrated its windup of the Red Cedar Book Nominee program on Saturday, April 30.

The Red Cedar Book Award is B.C.’s young readers’ choice award.

Williams Lake Bookworms Ashyln Ross, Heidi Boerma, Rachel Glessing, Aubrianna Boerma, Stephanie Dunlop, Luke Boerma, Tyana Ross and Zeallah Boerma, each read a number of books and then, as a group, voted on their favourite fiction and non-fiction material.

It was a hard decision but the winning votes from the WL Bookworms went to Faery Rebels Spell Hunter by R.J. Anderson for fiction and 100% Pure Fake by Lyn Thomas, for non-fiction.

The winners of the Red Cedar Award will be posted provincially after May 11.

“I am very pleased with all the young people that read the Red Cedar nominees, wrote reports and voted, they all did an excellent job," says branch assistant Tracy Dunlop.
