The Williams Lake Field Naturalists will host a Great Backyard Bird Count at Scout Island Nature Centre, Saturday, Feb. 18.

The Williams Lake Field Naturalists will host a Great Backyard Bird Count at Scout Island Nature Centre, Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Local birding experts Cathy Koot and Paula Laita will give a short introduction to bird identification using frozen and stuffed specimens.

The group will then take a walk around Scout Island to spot the favourite hang-outs of the various birds and play an identification game. To register call 250-398-8532.

Film club

The  Williams Lake Film Club will show the film Samson & Delilah Friday, Feb. 17 starting at 7 p.m. in the Central Cariboo Arts Centre.

Released in 2009 Samson & Delilah is  is written and directed by Warwick Thornton, an Australian Aboriginal. The film portrays modern life on the Alice Springs reserve.

Travel and dessert night

Peregrinations in Peru is the title of the next travel and dessert night taking place at St. Andrew’s United Church hall on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Admission is by donation. Dessert and coffee are served at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

Elvis tribute

Eli Williams is set to rock the Ramada Inn with his Tribute to Elvis performance Thursday, Feb. 23. Williams was the 2012 Penticton Elvis Festival Grand Champion.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
