Big Bike ride organizing begins

Volunteers are needed for the Big Bike ride that is returning to Williams Lake on June 9. An organizational meeting for volunteers will be held Tuesday, April 4 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Williams Lake Room at 640 Borland Street.

The meeting will include a light lunch and an informative session on the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

The big red bike holds 29 riders. Teams of riders will be scheduled to ride the bike around the city in about 20 minute blocks of time throughout the ride day.

In 2015 the Big Bike program invested more than $31 million in life-saving heart disease and stroke research, supporting more than 1,000 researchers across Canada. The program also placed more than 8,000 life-saving automated external defibrillators in communities across Canada to increase someone’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest.
