The Big Bear Ranch in Horsefly is hosting a Summer Field Day Saturday, Aug. 18.
Stefanie Krumsiek says the ranch, which is run by Gigi and Rainer Krumsiek, is a certified organic ranch.
The field day is being held to provide an educational and fun experience on an organic ranch so people will leave with an idea of how it works, Stefanie says.
The event will include wagon rides/ranch tour, a chicken bingo (with prizes), barbecue, bonfire, pig roast, and garden tour. Those coming from far away are welcome to camp at the ranch before and/or after the event that starts at noon.
The wagon ride and ranch tour takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. and kids will have the option of having a guided riding tour on Icelandic horses — kids are encouraged to bring helmets.
The event costs $35 per person, which includes a sausage lunch, pig roast in the evening, coffee and water (guests are welcome to bring their own beverages).
Kids 16 and under can take part for free.
