There were 60 entries in the annual AWANA Club’s Grand Prix races for the children held last week at Maranatha Christian School, says club spokesperson Tony Dickens.

There were three categories each in racing for speed and best craftsmanship. First, second and third place medallions were awarded in each category, Dickens says.

“There were some very creative entries and the children and parents were proud of their creations.”

The AWANA Club is a program of the Evangelical Free Church on 11th Ave.

Dickens says this has been a very successful season for the AWANA Club with  between 30 and 40 children attending the Thursday evening activity nights from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m.

“They play very exciting games, engage in a study from the Bible with their workbooks and are challenged with an interesting talk each meeting,” Dickens says.

Attendance and participation are rewarded with “shares” which are used to purchase items from the AWANA store once a term.

People who have questions about the AWANA program are asked to call Laurie Getson at 250-296-3155.
