The paintings of artist Kathryn Steen are featured at Annie’s Attic on Oliver Street for the 2011 Art Walk Show and Sale which winds up this Friday.

Steen has always had an interest in exploring her creative side, states her biography in the art walk booklet.

As a young mother she tried a variety of craft activities from knitting to stained glass to fulfill the creative urge.

As a teacher she enjoyed playing with a variety to art materials in the preparation and teaching of art sessions for her students.

In 1996, her children grown and having more free time, she accompanied a friend to Wells, for a beginners watercolour course with Marie Nagel.

This began a long course of playing with paint and participating in other workshops to improve her techniques and explore a variety of subject matter, materials and methods.

She continues to attend workshops whenever possible working towards a greater understanding and facility with materials and techniques.

Steen loves to share her ideas with others.

She teaches beginner and adult drawing and watercolour classes through the Cariboo Art Society and yearly summer classes for children at the Station House Gallery which are featured in a show.
