ALS volunteers raise funds at Dairy Queen

Supporters of the Williams Lake ALS Walk will be greeting customers and helping out at the Dairy Queen in exchange for a percentage of the profits on Thursday, June 15. The volunteers will be there from 4 to 8 p.m. The Williams Lake Walk for ALS takes place Saturday, June 24 in Boitanio Park. Check-in is at 10 a.m. and the walk starts at 11 a.m. Leading up to the event, walkers collect pledges from family, friends, and colleagues who wish to sponsor them. French Immersion Week

activities planned

Kindergarten to Grade 9 students in the French immersion programs at Nesika elementary and Lake City secondary Columneetza campus are celebrating French Immersion Week with a full day of activities on Thursday, June 15.

The students will arrive at city hall at 9:15 a.m. to sing O’ Canada in French and raise the French flag, says Tammy Watson of Canadian Parents for French. From city hall the students will tour the city visiting the Tribune, the Williams Lake Library, Save-On-Foods, the Potato House and Kiwanis Park. The Sugar Shack will provide Quebec inspired food such as beaver tails and poutine.

Chase Lamont fundraiser

The fundraising garage sale for Chase Lamont, 11, who is recovering from a stroke he suffered last summer is coming up Saturday, June 17.

The event will be held in the Cariboo Steel and Machine/Tasco parking lot Saturday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be raffle prize draws, hot dogs and lots of cool treasures to purchase say organizers. People who have donations can drop them off at Cariboo Steel and Machine on Friday, June 16 between 4 and 8 p.m.
