Inspired by the distant games in Russia, Alexis Creek held a Family Olympics Day on Saturday, Feb. 22.

And what the games lacked in flames, lasers, and pomposity, they made up for in no-cost community enthusiasm and participation.

The games consisted of frozen milk jug curling, obstacle course running, piggyback racing, and choreographed outdoor ice dancing.

An evening banquet raised more than $2,000 in funds  for Jeff and Danielle Casavant whose Lee’s Corner home was destroyed by fire in January. All in all it was a fun day.
