Achievement days help 4-H youth prepare for show and sale

Horsefly 4-H Club has more exciting activities.

On July 24 we had our big achievement day at Woodjam Ranch.

We would like to thank the Seelhof family for hosting this event.

In swine, Trake Kulyk got top senior showman; Joshua Yahnke won top junior showman; Ivan Yahnke won top market swine; and I, Maria Teppema, won best groomed.

I would like to thank Norm and Pat deWynter for judging.

In poultry Kylie Lacey won grand champion turkey; Katie Isaac won grand champion showman and best groomed poultry.

I would like to thank Pat deWynter for judging.

In sheep, Gwenna Meyrick won grand champion ewe lamb at foot; Curtis Best won market lamb and top senior showman; and Annie Isaac won junior showman and best groomed.

I would like to thank Pam and her daughter, Davana Mahon, for judging.

In dog I, Maria Teppema, won senior dog showman and best groomed.

Hannah Yahnke won top agility and grand champion obedience.

I would like to thank Gaye Looker for judging.

Now, last but not least, beef grand champion cow/calf was won by Taylor Maciborsky.

Garrett Best won grand champion heifer; Patrick Viher won grand champion steer; Karina Sukert won senior beef showman; Taylor Maciborsky won junior showman; and Hannah Yahnke won best groomed.

I would like to thank Chad Seelhof for judging.

After all the hard work we had a nice potluck lunch together and then went swimming at Linda Bartsch’s house.

Everyone had a wonderful time at achievement day. We would also like to thank all the people who volunteered their time to be our judges.   Our next activity is at the 53rd annual 4-H Show and Sale on Aug. 19-24 at the Williams Lake stockyards. I hope to see you there.
