On a sunny, early June afternoon, an Alexis Creek mule deer doe lays down amid dandelions that she will later eat. Although late with our wet, cool Chilcotin spring, the dandelions have arrived to paint the village yards and driveways yellow.  The dandelions, grasses, and the absence of natural predators or dog packs make Alexis Creek a haven for the mule deer population.
