$8,500 raised for Station House Gallery

The Station House Gallery’s Party Like It’s 1929 Station House Express fundraiser was a huge success.

The Station House Gallery’s Party Like It’s 1929 Station House Express fundraiser was a huge success both financially and as a fun night out, says executive director Diane Toop.

“Once the dust has settled and expenses accounted for we should realize about $8,500 from the fundraiser,” Toop says. “Very successful.”

She said they managed to keep expenses low by using their own or borrowed items to decorate the gallery,  and the donation of auction items by businesses and individuals.

“Staff and volunteer directors donated all the food so that expenses were kept very low,” Toop says.

Melinda Mitchell, Sam Wilson, Carol Grosso, Kim Paul, Maartje Daemen, donated their time to serve the food, manage the auction table, welcome guests and provide the entertainment. Harry Jennings kept the auction lively and activities rolling.

Music was provided by Brent Mortenson and Ciel Patenaude; Brian Sawyer and Rick Matthews; MGB 3 featuring Murray Hoffman, Bill Hyde and George Cornett; Synergy featuring Sharon Hoffman and Harry Jennings; and Carmen Mutschele.

Guy and Teresa Newsome taught a few steps of the Charleston to participants.

Gord Johnson and director, Karen Frey tended the bar, Toop says.
