The Ministry of Forests Trap Shoot in Alexis Creek was held on Saturday May 27, under particularly good weather. This shoot was dedicated to long time attendee, Mike Carlson who passed away after the shoot last year. Mike attended the shoot from 1972 to 2022 regularly and oversaw the ladies and novice .22 shoot most of that time.
This year 12, five-person teams fought for the Jack Lynn Memorial Trophy. Lloyd’s Lay Abouts won the day shooting as the 12th team on the roster. Team members were Lloyd Como, Roxanne Bambrick, Barry Jenkins, Adam Veley and Nicholas Veley.
This shoot was also somewhat unique as our Top Shooter Award donated by the BCGEU in 1979 was awarded to Roxanne Bambrick and second place “male” shooter was awarded to Barry Jenkins, who is married to the first and only other women to win that trophy, Judy Jenkins.
The .22 ladies shoot was hotly contested by 15 women and Journey Carlson-Campbell took first place, Nicole Strand took second and Roxanne Bambrick and Brontë Dureault shared third.
In the novice .22 shoot Meakin Carlson-Campbell won first, Nicholas Veley second and Rune Eidse third.
The Quesnel Trigger Fingers brought home the “Broken Shotgun Award” and Peggy Menning won 179th fastest shot.
Annie Oakley #1 was won by George Ostoforoff, and the second one was won by Barry Jenkins.
