The city of Williams Lake confirmed on Wednesday the permit for Popeyes restaurant was approved on Oct. 25, 2023.
Popeyes is a fast-food restaurant known for its Louisiana chicken. It also serves mashed potatoes, Cajun poutine, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, seafood entrées and more.
The building permit application was received in mid-September, said Reneir Nikolai, the city’s building inspector.
Construction teams, including engineering technologists, worked through the application, ensuring Popeyes will conform to all of the city’s bylaws.
“The next step is for the construction to mobilize and get going,” said Nikolai, who anticipates it will begin soon.
Popeyes will be located on Broadway Avenue South in Williams Lake, along with a new Shell station.
