Harris to meet with business owners and civic leaders on economy

An opportunity to consult on the economy with Cariboo-Prince George MP Dick Harris and Minister of State and chief government whip Gordon O’Connor is being offered by invitation only.

On Jan. 26 both Harris and O’Connor will meet with small business owners and civic leaders in Prince George to discuss ways to create jobs and economic growth.

Invitations have been extended to Williams Lake Mayor Kerry Cook, as well as select business leaders in the community.

In a press release, the Conservative MP says the government has developed the next phase of the Economic Action Plan and that he and other MPs want to, “hear the views of Canadians.”

“The format will be an informal roundtable discussion with civic leaders and small business owners who will bring the ideas and views that are representative of their regions and communities,” Harris says in the release.

Although the event is not open to the public, Harris’s executive assistance Theresa Bell says the MP is always willing to communicate with constituents on issues that concern them.

“Mr. Harris is available at any time for any member of the community,” Bell says.

“They can always come and speak with him or call him or visit the office with any concerns they have. He is most open to that.”
