The BC Enduro Series is returning to Williams Lake for its second year from May 20-22 where roughly 200 riders are expected to descend upon the lakecity’s mountain bike trails.

Series owner Ted Morton said the organizing committee is currently seeking volunteers to help out with various jobs for the weekend.

Volunteer positions include course marshals, who will be stationed at the top and bottom of race stages and first aid attendants.

“The BCES is so grateful to be invited back and we’re hoping that a few locals would be interested in helping to promote the trails and Williams Lake by volunteering as course marshals or first aid attendants at the event,” Morton said. “It’s always the best to have local volunteers as riders love to learn about the area and nobody knows the trails better than the locals.”

Saturday, the BCES will kick off with four trips from the Williams Lake River Valley trailhead to Snakes and Ladders on the Westsyde Trail Network.

Sunday, the day of the actual race, riders will be required to register at the Tourism Discovery Centre from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., before a rider briefing.

A shuttle will then take riders to the Westsyde Trail Network for their respective race classes, where $1,000 in cash prizes will be up for grabs for podium finishes.

Race classes include: 30-39 men, 21-29 men, women, under-12 and 15-and-under, 40-plus men and pro men. Racing begins at 8:30 a.m. before wrapping up at around 3 p.m. Awards and a meal will follow after a bike ride to the Potato House.

Monday at 10 a.m. shuttles will be available to Desous Mountain from Red Shred’s Bike and Board Shed.

Morton said anyone volunteering will receive a free T-shirt, lunch, more food and a coupon code for another race.

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Morton at admin@bcenduro.com.
