The Williams Lake Rustlers almost managed to erase an early first-half deficit Saturday.

Hosting the Terrace Northmen, the Rustlers found themselves behind 12 points in the first 10 minutes at the Ottoman Drive rugby pitch.

They then went on to control the play of the rest of the game, however, came up just short in a 22-20 edging — falling by a single convert.

“We just couldn’t capitalize on our chances,” head coach Braden McCallum said. “We had a number of shots. The opportunities we did have we couldn’t capitalize on due to handling errors.”

The Rustlers spent the majority of the second half pressuring the Terrace try line looking for the go-ahead score, however, they weren’t able to take advantage of the pressure.

“We spent almost the entire second half in their end and that’s the game of rugby,” McCallum said.

Scoring for Williams Lake were Jordan Pritchard, Caleb Wikene, Orrin Watkinson and Ryan Welke.
