A new season for the Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association executive board has just begun as a result of the local annual general meeting held April 6.

Todd Isnardy will remain on as president, while several members elected to stay on for another year and a few new faces joined the team.

As an executive member and the rep co-ordinator for the past two seasons I can tell you that being a volunteer on the board is both challenging and very rewarding.

I have encountered so many incredible hockey volunteers and supporters in Williams Lake. This community should be very proud.

I wanted to draw your attention to another hockey AGM which affects our local minor hockey. It’s the AGM for the Cariboo Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) which will be held on Saturday, May 6 in our region. This Cariboo league operates under the BC Hockey umbrella and includes the communities of Prince George, Quesnel, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, Mackenzie, Valemount and McBride.

It is very important to have local representation on this board to participate in discussions and decision making on issues affecting the Cariboo league and our association.

Williams Lake Minor Hockey would like to nominate someone to this board at the AGM. There are several positions up for nomination. If you have a passion for hockey, are level headed and able to look at the big picture and are interested in the long-term outcome of local minor hockey please consider finding out more.

If you have any questions, or an interest in participating on the CAHA board, please call or e-mail the hockey office at wlmha@telus.net for further information.

WLMHA would like to be able to bring forward some nominations at the upcoming CAHA AGM in early May.

While many are looking forward to spring and summer activities, planning for fall 2017 is underway.

Please watch for your hockey registration package in the mail.

Regular registration for next fall runs from May 1 to June 15. Between June 16 and Aug. 1 there will be an extra $100 (wlmha.ca) for application forms if you are interested in applying to coach a rep team.
