One of the thing the City of Williams Lake can be proud of is the Cariboo Memorial Complex.

It is worth every cent spent on its upgrade.

It has affordable recreation for every age, from a toddler to a senior.

If you are into fitness, there are program from aquafit to TRX, to yoga.

Also, all kind of exercise equipment is on the second floor. For the same one-day drop-in pass you can exercise, then go into the hot tub and, if you still have the energy, you can swim.

The swimming pools, as there are more than one, are really neat. The children can play in one with a ball net, a lazy river and also a waterslide.

Then there is an intermediate pool and another where you can swim laps.

For the hockey players and figure skaters, there are two rinks.

During the school year the children come in school buses to use the pool. This summer with all the smoke, you can safely exercise in comfort.

It is a facility well used, summer or winter.

The Labour Day weekend spelled the end of summer. Students are now back in school and all the programs are resumed.

The Seniors Activity Centre had been closed the last two weeks of August to have the roof over the original section replaced.

The Old Age Pensioners Organizations members will be out selling raffle tickets to raise money.

OAPO’s monthly meeting will be on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. and all members are welcomed. There will be a regional meeting on Sept. 20 at noon.

The Good Used Clothing Sale will be on Friday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29. I love this sale, as I buy most of my exercise T-shirts from it.

In conjunction with the clothing sale will be a garage sale on donated items.

For the crib players, there will be a crib tournament on Sept. 30.

Buy your ticket early as seating is limited to 60 people.

Oh, don’t forget, the Harvest Fair is this weekend, Sept. 8-9. Admission has been waived and they are even offering a free pancake breakfast on Sunday.

If you wish to live a healthy life, keep interested and participate in the events around you.
