Resource-dependent communities are struggling under the leadership of this NDP government.

Crucial energy projects are being scrapped and the ones being built are constantly delayed either by mismanagement or a sea of red tape and drawn-out government bureaucracy. Industry is choosing to leave our province to operate in other jurisdictions taking good jobs and paycheques with them.

This is coming at a time when British Columbia should be an energy leader.

Global electricity demand is growing and the need for the critical metals and minerals to power electric cars, solar panels, and wind turbines is skyrocketing.

Using our abundance of clean electricity and resources B.C. should seize the opportunity to extract the critical metals and minerals the world needs to meet the growing demand and help lower global emissions.

This week BC United unveiled our Resource Prosperity Plan, a set of actions we will take immediately to unlock B.C.’s natural resource potential, create jobs and grow paycheques.

The plan consists of five crucial pillars: electrifying B.C.’s future, empowering Indigenous participation in natural resource projects, fair taxation, global leadership in sustainability and cutting red rape of project reviews and permitting.

Despite British Columbia’s incredible potential to electrify our economy through clean power, the NDP’s mismanagement has made B.C. reliant on power imports. Our plan will put British Columbian communities first by making massive investments in clean power projects, transmission and electrification.

Additionally, we will cancel David Eby’s planned tripling of the carbon tax, and should a future federal government decide to axe the federal carbon tax, we will do the same in B.C. ensuring our province isn’t left behind.

Resource workers across the province who work tirelessly to supply our energy, build our economy and grow our communities deserve a government that shows its unwavering support.

BC United will support B.C.’s resource workers and unleash the potential of our natural resource sector.
