(Bill DeWitt "Mr Big B"

April 2nd, 1934 ~ March 8th, 2017


Predeceased by two of his daughters Tina DeWitt and Mary-Anne Arcand. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ditty DeWitt, son's John (Gale) Dewitt, Bill DeWitt Jr, daughters Patricia (Mark) Cecchini, Joyce (Gerry) Dewitt-Van Oosten, along with 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that he loved very dearly.


Bill immigrated to Canada in 1952 and moved from the lower mainland of British Columbia to the Cariboo/Chilcotin in 1973 were soon he became known as "Mr Big B" and became an integral part of the community. Starting with an abandoned gas station in Riske Creek which he built into a chain of service stations known throughout the Chilcotin and Northern BC. He also served multiple years as Chairman on the school board and numerous other community organizations.


With his larger than life personality, he always made an impression wherever he went. He was known for his great stories and humour, although sometimes unbelievable most of them were true.


A proud father, loving husband and a family man. A big man with a warm heart. He has now moved on to the great service station in the sky.


He loved his God and all in all "he did it his way".


Memorial Service will be held at Cariboo Bethel Church
