Merrilea Ann Elliott

July 23, 1950 - May 1, 2010

Merrilea, resident of Adams, Oregon, passed away May 1, 2010 of breast cancer.

Merrilea was born in Scotia, California, the eldest child of Chauncey and Marlee Willburn. She grew up in Ruth and graduated from high school in 1968 from Fortuna High. After graduation she moved to Canada and made her home in the Williams Lake area.

It was here that she met her husband Peter whom she married in 1985. In 1992, Merrilea and Peter moved to Fort Nelson, where she made many special friendships, and loved being part of the community. At the age of 50 Merrilea earned her commercial drivers license and joined her husband as a long haul truck driver.

Merrilea will be remembered for her compassion, her wonderfully entertaining stories, and most of all her “fantastic” sense of humor. Merrilea loved her family and her friends with unswerving loyalty. She had a boundless enthusiasm for life that she shared with the world. A dedicated and loving wife and mother, we were blessed by her dignity and her grace to the very end.

Merrilea is survived by her beloved husband Peter, her children April (Aaron) Grant, Carmen (Dylen) Wannop, and David (Erin) Elliott, parents Chauncey and Marlee Willburn, siblings Gene (Rhonda) Willburn, Charlene Willburn, Frank (Liz) Willburn, and Pete (Rhoda) Willburn, grandchildren, Samantha, Courtney, Austin, Tiffany, Carson and Dylan, many nieces and nephews and special friends.

She is predeceased by her son Autry Wilson and her childhood friend Sandy Mitchell.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, July 12, 2010 at the 150 Mile House Fire Hall on Pigeon Road, 150 Mile House, BC.
