It is with regret the passing of Marlene Lois Blades at the age of 71 years is announced.

Marlene was a long time resident of Williams Lake and area for more than 50 years.

Marlene was born February 7, 1933 and passed away March 26, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer in Kamloops.

Marlene is survived by her husband Walter, daughters Linda, Karen Faye and son Michelle, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Marlene will be fondly remembered by family and friends as well as all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was well known in the Cariboo for her work and devotion with handicapped people over the years and will be missed by all.

Funeral services were conducted from Compassionate Care Chapel with interment at Williams Lake Cemetery March 30, 2004.

Rev. Juanita Austin conducted the service with grace and compassion.

May Marlene rest in peace and long live in the memory of all who knew her.

The family appreciates the compassion and care that was extended to Marlene and her family by doctors, nurses and staff at Kamloops and Kelowna hospitals and the Kamloops Hospice House and the compassion and devotion extended by Lawrence and Joyce Batune and friends too numerous to mention.
