Born June 13, 1925 in Schönberg, Germany, Magdalena passed away on April 5, 2009 in Williams Lake, BC. She is predeceased by her father Paul Gottfried Schlubeck in 1976; her mother Johanna Martha Schlubeck in 1970; her brothers Kurt Schlubeck in 1981, Gerhardt Schlubeck (Lotti) in 1980, and Horst Schlubeck (Luzia) in 2006; and her beloved husband, Helmut Erich Pallussek in 1981.

Magdalena and Helmut married July 8, 1949 in Roxel, Germany. They moved to Canada in 1951, and had resided in Williams Lake since 1956. Magdalena’s great loves were her husband and her family. She was the thread that pulled everyone together. She also greatly enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, celebrating her cultural heritage, and social gatherings with friends.

Magdalena is survived by her sister Erika (Max) Riedel of Münster, Germany; daughter Imke Hagedorn (Gerhardt Weisse) of Sorrento, BC; granddaughter Wendy Hackman of Fort St. John, BC; grandson Rolt Hagedorn (Rochelle) of Williams Lake, BC; great grandchildren Swain and Darren (Candice) Hackman and Marin, Meikel and Mattias Hagedorn; great-great grandchildren Evan and Cade Hackman; nieces and nephews in Germany; as well as cherished friends.

Special thanks are given to Dr. R. Klepsch and to the RNs, LPNs, care aides and staff at the Williams Lake Seniors Village for their care of Magdalena. As well, the family would like to acknowledge and thank the Home Care Nurses, care aids, home support workers, ambulance attendants, neighbours and friends who helped Oma over the past 15 years.

A memorial service to honour Magdalena’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church (377 Hodgson Road, Williams Lake). Rev. A. Kahle officiating. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association may be made in lieu of flowers.
