Kathy passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2009, at 51 years, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, at home with her loved ones by her side.
She was predeceased by
her mother and father, Peggy and Eugene Nowosad, her brother Eugene, and her sister Marlon. She is survived by her loving husband Tom; sisters Peggy (Greg) and Kim; stepchildren Shane and Alison; step grandchildren Amanda, Devin and Ethan; niece Sophia and nephews Chris, Dan & Darwin.
Kathy was born in Cartwright, MB on December 28th, 1957 and was raised in Killarney, MB. In Brandon, MB she took her home care training before moving west to BC. Kathy met the love of her life, Tom, in 1988 in Horsefly, BC. They were married in 1997.
Kathy started her own home care business, Tender Hearted Care, in the same year and continued her practice until September of this year, after being diagnosed with cancer in June.
Kathy had several hobbies. She took pride in raising Shih-Tzu puppies, many of which have been passed to friends and family. She was an avid sewer, cook and gardener. She performed all with enthusiasm and skill. Arts and crafts were her specialty for making gifts for many relatives and friends. Kathy also loved to travel as witnessed by Tom & Kathy’s travels to Africa, British Isles, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Palm Desert and Europe. Their trips across Canada included Quebec City, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Nova Scotia and Cape Breton.
The family would like to thank the many friends for the wonderful suport received throughout her illness, especially Penny Veitch.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 10th, 2009 at 1 pm, at St. Andrews United Church, 1000 Huckvale Place.
