Joseph (Joe) Getz

July 5, 2006

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph (Joe) Getz announces his passing at Cariboo Memorial Hospital on July 5, 2006.

He is survived by his loving wife Alice, three children Terry (Marj), Trevor (Maggie), and Joanne (Bobby), and his grandchildren: Todd (Theresa), Shannon (Steve), Jennifer (Kurtis), Heather (Dale), Allison (Brody), Lisa, and Travis, also four great-grandchildren Parker, Brendan, Evan, and Diondra, plus many relatives, nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Joe was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan on July 7, 1921.

He was the youngest of nine children and is survived by one sister, Katie.

He attended school in Kingsford, Sask. He farmed and worked at Grundeen Motors in Estevan, Sask. Joe married Alice Stephany of Bienfait, Sask. on November 8, 1944. They moved to Duncan B.C. in 1946 where their three children were born.

Joe worked with his brother Dean in logging and also for Garner Brothers logging. In 1963, the family moved to Williams Lake where Joe was with San Jose Logging until he retired in 1986.

Joe was a great family man, loved and took pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with them all, and also with many friends.

Until his health prevented him, he enjoyed fishing, golf, curling, and he loved playing cards with his friends, which they did frequently.

Funeral service was held at the Sacred Heart Church with Father Tony Ackerman officiating. Roger Therrien, a long time friend, gave the eulogy. Todd, Shannon, and Travis also paid tribute to their grandpa.

Joe will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.
