Joan Broderick, 70, of Williams Lake passed away suddenly on March 11, 2017.

Joan will be missed dearly by her husband Anthony (Tony), son Kevin (Cristina), Krew, and Chance; daughter Kristy (Jens), Martina, Karlee and Katie and son, Kieran (Natalie), Makena and Maya. Joan also leaves behind her brother Wilfred, brother-in-laws: Joseph Broderick, John (Betty) Broderick, sister-in law Clara (Richard) Allen; nieces: Kim, Holly, Tracey, Lana, Tanya and Valerie and nephews Chris and Theodore, as well as other extended family and friends. Joan is predeceased by her parents, John and Fedelia Anderson.

Joan was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. In the spring of 1956 she moved to McBride, BC. In the fall of 1957, Joan moved with her family to Dome Creek, BC and then she moved with her family to Prince George, BC. In 1964, Joan moved to Kamloops, BC to start her Nurse’s Training where she graduated in 1968. That same year, she married her soul mate Anthony (Tony) Broderick and then they started their family in 1971. In 1979, Joan and Tony moved to Williams Lake where Joan lived for the remainder of her life. Joan continued on to get her Masters in Adult Education from St. Xavier, Nova Scotia. She put her heart into working as an RN in Kamloops and Williams Lake and then she continued on with working in Public Health. She finished her career as the nursing program developer and head instructor at the Quesnel CNC where she mentored many future health care professionals.

Joan enjoyed life with family and friends throughout BC. She always had time for a chat and a chuckle. Joan was a wonderful, intelligent, kind, caring and compassionate woman. She was a fantastic cook and loved to entertain family and friends. We will cherish all memories of wonderful family times together.

Joan was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in November 2010 and was forced to be on oxygen for the duration of her life. Despite this, she was extremely determined and forever positive to live life to its fullest. Joan fought her condition right to the end and was bound and determined to beat it! Joan will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Anglican Church on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Keith Dobyns will be officiating. Light refreshments will be provided following the service.
