It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jette Elsebeth Ashlee (64).

Jette will be forever missed by her loving husband Bernie Betzema; daughter Melissa Ashlee; grandson Nicholas Kenchinton; mother Karen Larsen; sister Marianne Carson (Claude); brother Steven Larsen (Nancy); niece Shannon Brown (Kurtis); nephews Reid Harrington (Angela), John Larsen; great nephews Pearce Brown, Greysen Harrington; great niece Skylar Brown.

She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. As the eternal student, Jette held degrees from Thompson Rivers University (BC), Cambridge University (GB) and a doctorate from Roskilde University in Denmark.

She loved the study of the Arctic and its people. Jette worked for many years in the Department for Indian and Northern Affairs in Ottawa. Jette’s recent love was her teaching at Thompson Rivers University in Williams Lake, BC. Her book “An Arctic Epic” will be a continuing legacy to her love of arctic studies.

Condolences and memories may be sent to: telstory@telus.net. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 2:00pm in the Senior Citizen Activity Center, 176 N. Fourth Avenue, Williams Lake, BC. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donation to a charity of your choice.
