Ingeborg Paula Irene Penner

March 14, 1920 ~ March 24, 2009

An only child, Inge was born Ingeborg Prufer in Weissagk, East Germany, on

March 14, 1920.

In 1947 she went to London, England where she became a nurse and a midwife. Inge loved both travel and photography and in 1955 she immigrated to Ontario, working her way westward to Williams Lake as an RN and filling up photo albums along the way. Inge never had any children of her own and she truly cherished the years spent in various maternity wards.

On July 24, 1959 she married Frank Penner with whom she spent the next 35 years until Frank’s death, living and working in North Kamloops, Vancouver, Coquitlam, Pender Island, White Rock and Kelowna.

After years of being on her own, Inge passed away suddenly on March 24, 2009 at the age of 89. Inge will be lovingly remembered by her step-daughter Darlene (Martin) Dick; step-son Gary Penner; grandsons Jeremy Franke, Garth Penner, Shane (Kelly) Penner, Shawn Penner; granddaughter Jennifer Franke; three great-grandchildren Jay Franke, Katherine Franke and Carson Penner (affectionately known as Peanut); various nieces, nephews and friends throughout the Okanagan; as well as cousins in North Vancouver and Germany.

Heartfelt thanks goes to the staff at Joseph Benjamin for the loving care given to Inge during her time there.

No memorial, by request. If desired, donations may be made in Inge’s memory to the BC Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
