1936 ~ 2017
Gertrude Margerite Egli passed away suddenly on January 14, 2017 at home.
She was born on July 28, 1936 in Vienna, Austria. Gertrude grew up through WWII and lost contact with her immediate family. She eventually settled in Switzerland where she met and married Paul Leapald Egli. They moved to Canada in 1967, settling in Williams Lake, BC where Gertrude would remain for the next 50 years. She worked tirelessly for 15 years as a custodial engineer at a local high school.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Paul and daughter Jolande. She is survived by her son Norbert Fietcher (Karrie), son Peter Egli (Janet), stepson Robert Egli (Lendra), step daughter Judy Egli and granddaughters Breanne and Brittany and grandson Ryan who she shared a special bond with till the end.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Williams Lake, BC with Father Samuel officiating. Refreshments will be served in the church hall following the mass.
