The Eniyud Community Forest is currently working to salvage heavily burnt timber from the 2023 Middle Lake / Hell Raving Creek fire. This fire is located immediately north of Middle Lake. Blocks within the fire perimeter are being designed and developed with special attention to mitigate risks associated with soil erosion and sedimentation. Any green stems remaining will be unharvested, if operationally feasible, although there are very few green stems left due to the intensity of the fire.

The entire fire area is found within polygons identified in the Cariboo-Chilcotin Land Use Plan Land Act Order as having Visual Quality Objectives. These Visual Quality Objectives are managed under the Forest Stewardship Plan, section 5.8.2. There is potential that salvage harvesting within the fire perimeter will exceed the alteration limits of the Visual Quality Objectives, and may be visible from viewpoints on Middle Lake. Due to the potential visual impact, the Eniyud Community Forest is seeking public consultation prior to conducting further activities within the fire perimeter.
