A contentious application to rezone for secondary suites in Westridge will be discussed following tonight’s regular city hall meeting in Williams Lake.

The public is invited to present their input in supporting or objecting the amendment, which would allow the addition of secondary suites as a permitted land use in the Bareland Strata Residential (R-9) zone to permit secondary suites within single-family dwellings on properties within the area.

Prior to the hearing, a petition and opposition was submitted to council where all but one of the home owners in Mandarino Place were opposed to the rezoning, with many receiving multiple signatures per household.

Roughly 40 signatures were collected.

Public support, meanwhile, largely equalled the opposition to the amendment with 40-some letters submitted to council for review.
