Anyone who may have witnessed a head-on collision on Highway 97 near 108 Mile House last Saturday, March 18, is asked to contact the 100 Mile House RCMP.
Cpl. Brian Lamb said in a press release that two vehicles were involved in the collision, resulting in five people being injured and taken to 100 Mile House Hospital for treatment.
A passenger of one of the vehicles involved, a 16 year old male resident of 100 Mile House, was later transported to Children's Hospital in Vancouver with very serious injuries.
RCMP were later informed he had succumbed to his injuries on Monday, March 20.
Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services continue to investigate the incident and the BC Coroners Service have also been engaged and are investigating.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to have been a factor, police said, noting while weather and road conditions at the time are believed to be a contributing factor.
Any witnesses to this incident who have not come forward as of yet are asked to call the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456.
At this time the name of the deceased youth will not be released, Lamb said.
