Cougars spotted at Esler and Signal Point in recent days

Sgt. Len Butler of the Williams Lake Conservation Officer Service said they've had around five calls in the past two days involving cougar sightings.

Butler said they seem to be following deer, which is normal at this time of year, and have been mostly seen around the edges of town at Esler and above Signal Point.

A resident in the Esler/Hodgson Road area told the Tribune yesterday a cougar was spotted at around 7 p.m. in the area.

The cougars identified have been mostly younger, Butler added. People are encouraged to contact the COS at 1-877-952-7277 if they have any concerns.
