Kai Richardson made the trek in March as the lone Shogun Martial Arts competitor to take part in the Tigerbalm International Open in Vancouver this year. His Sensei, Lee-Ann Lainchbury, said he teamed up with the Smithers Shogun Martial Arts Academy dojo and had a great showing. Richardson brought home gold in point fighting, gold in kata and was the super grand champion in kata. “Super grands is a big deal as all of the winners from kids/youth kata compete against each other and the winner gets the super grand champion cup,” Lainchbury said.
