Thompson Rivers University Williams Lake is now offering an early childhood education (ECE) program.
Last week, the lakecity campus announced receiving approval to offer the program and is now accepting applications.
“The ECE program represents a crucial initiative in addressing the pressing shortage of childcare spaces in Williams Lake and the surrounding region,” said Kim Kimberlin, marketing, student recruitment & events coordinator for the Williams Lake campus.
Kimberlin said offering high-quality childcare education through a full-time but condensed diploma program will help get ECE professionals into the community faster. The program is 12 months long. To find out more or apply email wladvising@tru.ca or go to: tru.ca/wl-ece.
TRU Williams Lake is also interested in hearing from those with childcare facilities interested in hosting practicum placements as well. Those interested can email williamslake@tru.ca.
The one-time intake program is offering 25 seats and will begin in September of 2024.
Practicum placements are scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays beginning in September.
