Boats and docks lay strewn along the beach at Plato Island Resort located in the west arm of Quesnel Lake following last week’s powerful wind storm that wept through the region May 23. Boaters described 10-foot waves on the lake and wild winds which also toppled trees. The resort remains open, however, and are still hosting a fishing derby June 9, 10 and 11, where the top prize is $1,500. The derby is sponsored by Mt. Polley Mine. (Photo courtesy of Barb Lutz)
