WORDS on Broadway events take place Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 at the Tourism Discovery Centre.
Friday, students from local schools will visit with award winning author Beryl Young. There will also be a session for pre-school children from 2 to 2:45 p.m.
Friday evening features a Words &Wine with improv theatre entertainment, songs by Jenny Roberts and a reading by Sage Birchwater from his latest book. Tickets are $30 and available at the Tourism Discovery Centre or from Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce members.
Saturday, May 6 there will be six workshop presentations by professional artists between 9 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Admission for each presentation is $10 or $50 for all six sessions.
Sessions will be offered on the art of storytelling with Beryl Young; songwriting with Jenny Roberts; script writing for theatre; illustrating for publications; editing, information on getting your work published and developing connections in the writing world.
The day will also include an author’s fair with local authors there to chat with visitors about their books.
