The Stampede Queen contestants will participate in a fashion show and speech finals this Saturday, June 17 at the Gibraltar Room starting at 7 p.m.

This will be an opportunity to meet this year’s three contestants, take in some western fashion and listen to the contestants answer impromptu questions and give their final speeches, says contest co-ordinator Davana Mahon.

There are three contestants vying for the position of 2017/18 Stampede Queen, Kaylee Billyboy, Miss Gustafson’s Dodge; Tennale Sailor, Miss Beaver Valley Feeds; and Brianna Wyness, Miss Tim Hortons.

Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and children under 12.

The Stampede Queen coronation is set for June 24, starting at 7 p.m. in the Gibraltar Room.

The date for the horsemanship finals is not yet finalized, Mahon says.

The Stampede Queen contestants are judged 30 percent on public speaking and interview, 20 percent on horsemanship, 20 percent on a written exam about knowledge of the city and rodeo knowledge, and 30 per cent on personality, poise and maturity.
