Nesika Elementary School students are staging the play The Wizard of Oz this Tuesday and Wednesday and open the shows to the public as a fundraiser for two of their fellow students.

The play is being mounted as a fundraiser for Chase Lamont and Summer Singleton who are both fighting life-threatening ailments.

The play will be staged in the school gymnasium at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9 and again on Wednesday, May 10 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Admission is by donation, says principal Yvonne Davis.

Students from Cataline Elementary School have been invited to the Tuesday performance, but Davis says there is plenty of room for parents and people who want to see the play at any of the four performances.

She notes the gymnasium will seat 300 people.

Nesika students Chase Lamont is recovering from a stroke he suffered last summer. Summer Singleton is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
