The Women’s Contact Society is hosting its sixth annual Handbags of Hope dinner and auction on Friday, May 5 at the Signal Point Event Centre.

“Handbags for Hope is a fun dinner and auction for women who love handbags and a night out with other women,” says society executive director Irene Willsie.

“We have both live and silent auctions and all the bags have mystery prizes hidden inside them and the prizes are not revealed and until all the bags are sold.”

It’s a little bit like Christmas morning, Willsie says. Some prizes are very nice trips, or gift certificates and others are small little items.

Dinner will be light and healthy followed by a wonderful decadent dessert, Willsie says. Add a glass of wine or a cocktail from the no-host bar to make it a great evening.

She says all of the proceeds raised support the Women’s Contact Society’s work to make Williams Lake a safer place through education and raising awareness about violence against women and girls and supporting the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls program.

Tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance. The tickets are available at the Women’s Contact Society office located at 51A South Fourth Avenue or by calling the office at 250-392-4118.
