VIDEO: 80th Bull Show and Sale in the books

The 80th Annual Bull Show and Sale kicked off in Williams Lake Wednesday, April 12, featuring the show and agricultural displays.

The 80th Annual Bull Show and Sale kicked off in Williams Lake Wednesday, April 12, featuring the show and agricultural displays.

Judge and local ranch manager Mike Altwasser (pictured below, photo Angie Mindus) with assistance from Jacob Onyschuk, Canadian Hereford Association director of business development had the arduous task of selecting the top bulls in each class.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the Angus classes Todd Marchant and Pam McGuiness of Big Lake Ranch, B.C. claimed Grand Champion for Schochaneetqua Sensation 660D. They also won Best Pair for Schochaneetqua Sensation 660D and Schochaneetqua Ricochet 637D.

Reserve Grand Champion winner was Barry Teagle of Westwold, B.C. with BBT Eric 3D while Schweb Family Cattle of Salmon Arm won Get of Sire with WTRC Heavy Hitter 105Y’ 3D, WTRC Duke 142Y’ 19D and WTRC Harvey 10D.

In the Hereford classes, 3DL Farm won both Champion Yearling and the Louise Newbery Memorial award for 3-D-L Diesel  and Reserve Champion Yearling for 3-D-L Drummond 5D.

Deanfield Ranch from Kamloops won Junior Champion sponsored by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Reserve Grand Champion sponsored by the Williams Lake Tribune for Deanfield 25U Aster Lad 52C. Get of Sire and the Gung Loy Jim Memorial Award also went to Deanfield Ranch.

Little Fort Herefords won Grand Champion, sponsored by Finning Tractor and Equipment and Senior Champion sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada for LFH MVP 53C. They also won Reserve Junior Champion sponsored by the Bank of Montreal for LFH Total 332W 54C, Best Pair of Bulls and the Ray and Chrissie Pigeon Memorial and Best String of Three Bulls sponsored by Douglas Lake Ranch.

Richardson Ranch from Tlell, B.C. won Reserve Senior Champion sponsored by Beaver Valley Feed and Supplies for Tell 100W Cattlemen 20C, which Don Richardson said was one of his “beach boys” after weigh-in on Tuesday because his ranch is near the ocean on Haida Gwaii.
